Summer 2009 Season Begins!
Please check out the Events Page for the 2009 schedule. First event will be on Saturday, June 13th. See you there!
About Riverwalk Times
Riverwalk Times is a free summertime outdoor entertainment series presented by the Jesse M. Smith Library in Harrisville, Rhode Island. Events are held outside on the new library’s spacious Riverwalk, with the library’s community wing available for cool drinks, bathrooms and air-conditioned breaks. In case of rain, the venues are just moved inside — not canceled!
Events such as outdoor movie screenings, plays, concerts, and performances of interest to the general public are being sought. If you are a musician, performer, story-teller, or artist and would like to propose an event for the series, please go to the Proposals page.
Summer 2008 Highlights
The Rhode Island Children’s Chorus on Sunday afternoon, June 29, 2008, on the Riverwalk, Christine Noel conducting. A great concert by a great group with a large crowd, despite the heat and humidity! This was our second of four events of our maiden season.
On Sunday, July 27, the Infinite Darkness Quartet, a jazz group led by guitarist/composer Mike Bernier, performed in the community room — for the second time in the 2008 season, rain forced us inside. Click here to watch a video from the concert.
Our season finale was a great concert by The Show, on Saturday, August 23, that drew some 100 people. A wonderful evening — perfect temperature, clear skies, folks strolling by with ice creams from next-door Millhouse restaurant. We liked The Show so much we’ve invited them back for next summer.
